Down on the Farm

Who could have foreseen this?
You're probably not reading this, but...

Here‘s what Joba had to say about his hitless outing yesterday.

TJ Beam hasn’t pitching a game since May 3rd. Make of it what you will, but it’s funny how no one’s missed him…

Triple-A Scranton (5-2 loss to Columbus)
Kevin Thompson: 1 for 5, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (fielding)
Chris Basak: 2 for 5, 1 2B, 1 SB
Andy Phillips: 0 for 3, 2 BB
Bronson Sardinha: 0 for 2, 2 BB, 1 E (throwing)
Shelley Duncan: 1 for 2, 1 2B, 2 BB – 18 XBH in 31 games…
Eric Duncan: 0 for too many to count (4 really)
Alberto Gonzalez: 0 for 3, 1 R, 1 BB – OPS is entering dangerous territory (I’m talking sub-.600)
Steven Jackson: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 3 K, 8-4 GB/FB – only 57 of 107 pitches were strikes (53.3%)
Ben Kozlowski: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
Charlie Manning: 2 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

Double-A Trenton
First Game (2-1 win over New Britain)
This was the continuation of yesterday’s game that was suspended in the top of the 9th due to rain. Not much happened today, Gerardo Casadiego recorded a K to end the top of the inning, and Matt Carson singled home PJ Pilittere in the bottom of the frame after PJ singled and advanced to second on a Carlos Mendoza walk. See yesterday’s DotF for the stats…
Second Game (5-1 win over New Britain)
Ramiro Pena: 2 for 3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB
Noah Hall: 0 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 K – 1 for 17 since 3 for 4 game in organizational debut…
Shawn Garrett: 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Carlos Mendoza: 2 for 4, 1 R, 1 E (fielding)
Justin Christian: 1 for 3, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K – last SB was 9 games ago, what gives?
Matt Carson: 4 for 4, 1 R, 2 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI – he’s clearly been the best hitter on the team this year, so why is he still buried in the 8-hole?
Jason Jones: 7 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 8 K – it’s ironic how the guys performing well this year are the Brett Smiths and Jason Jones’ of the organization, not the Ross Ohlendorfs and Steven Jacksons and Tyler Clippards…
Michael Gardner: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K

High-A Tampa had a scheduled off day.

Low-A Charleston (12-6 loss to Asheville)
Mitch Hilligoss: 2 for 5, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (fielding)- extends hit streak to minor league leading 20 games…
Austin Jackson: 1 for 4, 1 BB, 1 K
Seth Fortenberry: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB – 8 RBI in last 7 games…
Chris Malec: 2 for 3, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP, 1 E (fielding)
Brian Baisley: 3 for 5, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K – 9 for his last 14 with 2 homers and 5 RBI…
Jose Gil: 2 for 5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 E (pickoff)
Angel Reyes: 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 6 BB, 0 K, 2-8 GB/FB – last 3 outings: 12.1 IP, 15 H, 11 ER, 11 BB, 7 K…
Garrett Patterson: 3 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 5 ER, 4 BB, 1 K, 1 WP – 43 baserunners allowed in 24.1 IP…at least his GB/FB ratio is over 5.50…

Happy Mother’s Day to mine, and all the other moms out there. You make the world go ’round.
