Triple-A Scranton was rained out. They’ll make this one up as part of an April 18th doubleheader.
Double-A Trenton (8-7 loss to New Hampshire, walk-off style)
Austin Krum, LF: 0 for 2, 2 R, 1 RBI, 3 BB, 1 SB – led the system in walks last year, I guess he’s looking to do the same this year
Jose Pirela, SS: 1 for 5, 3 E (all throwing) – that’s four errors in two games
Austin Romine, C: 1 for 5, 2 R – didn’t throw out any of the four guys that attempted steals
Bradley Suttle, 3B: 0 for 5, 2 K
Cody Johnson, DH: 3 for 5, 1 R, 1 2B, 3 RBI, 1 K – surprised it took him until his second game to strike out … he’s the Mark Reynolds of minor league baseball
Melky Mesa, CF: 1 for 4, 4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
Corban Joseph, 2B: 3 for 5, 2 2B, 2 RBI – hopefully some of the doubles will start clearing the fence soon
Ray Kruml, RF: 0 for 4, 1 R, 1 K, 2 SB
Shaeffer Hal, LHP: 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 7-2 GB/FB
Wilkins Arias, LHP: 0 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 0 K – egads
The Ghost of Kei Igawa, LHP: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 0-4 GB/FB – he walked in an inherited runner
Pat Venditte, SHP: 0.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 0-2 GB/FB – gave up a walk-off single
High-A Tampa (7-6 win over Lakeland in ten innings, walk-off style) they faced one of my favorite non-Yankee prospects
Abe Almonte, CF: 2 for 5, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB – first homer since 2009
Carmen Angelini, SS: 1 for 3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
Rob Lyerly, 3B: 3 for 5, 1 3B, 3 RBI, 1 K – again, he’s hella streaky
Luke Murton, 1B & Zoilo Almonte, LF: both 0 for 5 – Murton struck out three times, Almonte once
Taylor Grote: 1 for 5, 1 R, 1 K – scored the winning run
Kyle Higashioka, C: 1 for 5, 1 RBI – walk-off single
DeAngelo Mack, DH: 2 for 4, 1 R
Walt Ibarra, 2B: 2 for 3, 3 R, 1 BB – nice day
Sean Black, RHP: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 4-4 GB/FB – underwhelming, like his entire career dating back to Seton Hall … he’s the kind of prospect that always leaves you wanting more
Kelvin Perez: 2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1-2 GB/FB
Chase Whitley: 1.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 2-0 GB/FB
Francisco Gil: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 2-0 GB/FB – he clip’d a win: blew the lead, then won the game
Low-A Charleston (11-7 loss to Lexington)
Slade Heathcott, CF: 3 for 4, 2 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 1 E (throwing) – he hit all of two homers last year … I expect big things this year, did long before this game
Anderson Feliz, 2B: 1 for 5, 1 R, 2 K
J.R. Murphy, 3B: 1 for 4, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI – he’s going to play all over the field this year, which will only increase his value
Gary Sanchez, C: 1 for 4, 1 2B, 1 K, 2 PB – it’s all about the XBH here
Rob Segedin, LF: 1 for 4, 1 2B, 1 K – another guy that will see time at different positions this season
Ramon Flores, 1B & Jose Mojica, SS: both 0 for 4 – Mojica scored a run & committed a throwing error
Kelvin DeLeon, RF: 1 for 4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K – he’s got some serious power, but the plate discipline is a work in progress (putting it nicely)
Nik Turley, LHP: 3.2 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 1 WP, 4-0 GB/FB – eek
Wilton Rodriguez, RHP: 1.1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER 2 BB, 3 K, 1-0 GB/FB
Rich Martinez, RHP: 2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 1-0 GB/FB, 1 E (pickoff)
Manny Barreda, RHP: 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 1 WP, 2-1 GB/FB
