• The Mariners are scouting David Phelps, though there are no indications a deal is close or even being discussed. The White Sox and Brewers continue to monitor the Yankees’ spare catchers. Cuban infielder Aledmys Diaz signed with the Cardinals.
• Injury Updates: Mark Teixeira (wrist), Alfonso Soriano (flu), and Manny Banuelos (elbow) all returned to game action. Brendan Ryan (oblique) feels better and hopes to return to the lineup on Wednesday. Tyler Austin (wrist) has resumed hitting. Jose Ramirez (oblique) and Francisco Rondon (shoulder) were both reassigned to minor league camp.
