Game 55: Win it for Tex
Yankees beat O's 8-6 and it was never in doubt, no siree

With 1B Chris Parmelee called up to the big leagues, 1B Tyler Austin has been promoted from Double-A Trenton to Triple-A Scranton and 1B Matt Snyder has been bumped up from High-A Tampa to Double-A Trenton, report Matt Kardos and Nick Flammia. It’s all one big chain reaction.

Triple-A Scranton (7-5 loss to Columbus)

  • CF Ben Gamel: 2-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 1 SB, 1 HBP — third straight two-hit game
  • RF Aaron Judge: 2-5, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K
  • DH Nick Swisher: 0-5, 1 K — he has an opt-out sometime this month and I’m guessing he’ll use it after being passed over for Parmelee
  • LF Jake Cave: 1-2, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 CS
  • C Kyle Higashioka: 1-3, 1R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB — he’s one catcher injury away from getting called up, which would be pretty cool after all his injuries and years as a minor league backup
  • 1B Tyler Austin: 1-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB — welcome back to Triple-A
  • RHP Brady Lail: 5.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 6/6 GB/FB — 58 of 90 pitches were strikes (64%)
  • RHP Conor Mullee: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 0/2 GB/FB — 25 of 37 pitches were strikes (68%)
  • LHP James Pazos: 1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 2/1 GB/FB — 21 of 35 pitches were strikes (60%) … 24/16 K/BB in 19.1 innings
  • LHP Neal Cotts: 0.1 IP, zeroes — two pitches, one strike

Double-A Trenton Game One (7-1 win over Erie in seven innings) makeup of the April 9th rainout

  • SS Tyler Wade: 0-4, 1 R, 1 RBI
  • CF Dustin Fowler: 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 SB — 18-for-45 (.400) with four doubles and two triples in his last eleven games
  • 1B Dante Bichette Jr.: 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI
  • LHP Daniel Camarena: 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 7/6 GB/FB — 53 of 82 pitches were strikes (65%) … 34/11 K/BB in 51 innings for one of my former favorite sleepers

Double-A Trenton Game Two (5-2 loss to Erie in seven innings)

  • SS Tyler Wade: 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP
  • CF Dustin Fowler: 0-1, 1 RBI, 1 BB — threw a runner out at second
  • LHP Caleb Smith: 2 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 3 HB, 0/1 GB/FB — 42 of 59 pitches were strikes (71%)
  • RHP Jonathan Holder: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 2/1 GB/FB — 26 of 40 pitches were strikes (65%)
  • RHP Mark Montgomery: 2 IP, zeroes, 4 K, 0/2 GB/FB — 18 of 25 pitches were strikes (72%)

High-A Tampa (12-4 loss to Charlotte)

  • SS Jorge Mateo: 1-5, 1 K, 1 E (throwing)
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-5, 1 R, 1 3B, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — 8-for-26 (.308) with a triple, two homers, four walks, and three strikeouts in his last six games
  • RF Austin Aune: 1-5, 1 R, 2 K
  • DH Thairo Estrada: 0-4, 2 R, 1 K
  • 1B Abi Avelino: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K
  • LHP Ian Clarkin: 5 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 11/0 GB/FB — 47 of 72 pitches were strikes (65%) … the grounders are good, but not much else is
  • RHP Gabe Encinas: 0.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 1 K, 2 WP — only 13 of 28 pitches were strikes (46%) … 9/21 K/BB in 15 innings, yikes
  • RHP Jordan Foley: 2 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1/1 GB/FB — 25 of 39 pitches were strikes (64%)

Low-A Charleston (5-3 loss to Kannapolis)

  • CF Jeff Hendrix: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B — 14-for-21 (.667) in his last five games
  • SS Kyle Holder: 1-4, 1 2B — 25-for-76 (.329) with five doubles, five walks, and eight strikeouts in his last 19 games
  • 2B Hoy Jun Park: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
  • 3B Angel Aguilar: 0-4, 1 K
  • RHP Domingo Acevedo: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K, 4/1 GB/FB – 41 of 58 pitches were strikes (71%) … first outing since May 2nd due to a lower body injury … 43/5 K/BB in 37 innings
  • LHP Nestor Cortes: 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 8 K, 1 WP, 4/1 GB/FB — 48 of 73 pitches were strikes (66%) … 40/6 K/BB in 27.2 innings
