Carter's clutch homer helps Yanks to an 11-5 win over Pirates
Judging from the Start

OF Blake Rutherford made SportsCenter’s top ten plays yesterday. He flipped over the wall making a catch in foul territory. The video is above. Hopefully that’s not the last time we see Rutherford on the top ten, eh?

Triple-A Scranton (1-0 win over Indianapolis)

  • SS Tyler Wade: 0-4, 1 BB — in a little 1-for-15 (.067) downswing
  • LF Clint Frazier: 2-3, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB — only his second multi-hit game of the season … hopefully we see more of this Clint Frazier going forward, this dude kicks butt
  • CF Dustin Fowler: 2-4 — 9-for-24 (.375) during his six-game hitting streak
  • 1B Rob Refsnyder: 1-3, 1 BB
  • DH Ji-Man Choi: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
  • LHP Daniel Camarena: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 7/3 GB/FB — 51 of 72 pitches were strikes (71%) … he’s up here to help fill one of the rotation spots vacated by RHP Johnny Barbato (traded) and LHP Dietrich Enns (injury), so he should get to stick around a while … Shane Hennigan says RHP J.R. Graham was sent to Double-A Trenton to clear a roster spot
  • RHP Ernesto Frieri: 1 IP, zeroes, 1 K, 1/1 GB/FB — nine pitches, eight strikes

Double-A Trenton Game One (3-0 loss to Portland in seven innings) makeup of yesterday’s rainout

  • CF Rashad Crawford: 0-2, 1 BB — in a 3-for-18 (.167) rut
  • SS Thairo Estrada: 1-3, 1 K
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-2, 1 2B, 1 BB
  • RF Zack Zehner: 1-3, 1 K — 18th round pick in 2015 is quietly hitting .359/.444/.513 so far this year
  • LF Billy McKinney: 0-3, 2 K, 1 E (fielding)
  • 2B Abi Avelino: 1-3
  • RHP Domingo German: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K, 7/2 GB/FB — 61 of 99 pitches were strikes (62%) … has a 65.0% ground ball rate through 16.2 innings

Double-A Trenton Game Two (5-0 win over Portland in seven innings)

  • CF Rashad Crawford: 0-3, 1 RBI, 2 K — make that a 3-for-21 (.143) rut
  • SS Thairo Estrada: 1-3, 1 BB — six walks and four strikeouts in eleven games
  • 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-4
  • RF Billy McKinney: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K — 3-for-17 (.176) in his last six games and all three hits came in the same game
  • LHP Nestor Cortes: 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 2/6 GB/FB — 51 of 81 pitches were strikes (63%) … making the spot start in the doubleheader … two starts and two relief appearances for the organizational swingman

High-A Tampa (7-2 loss to Lakeland)

  • 2B-SS Kyle Holder: 0-4 — 4-for-51 (.078) this season … 4-for-51!
  • SS Didi Gregorius: 0-3 — played seven innings in the field again
  • 2B Nick Solak: 0-0, 1 BB — replaced Gregorius
  • CF Jorge Mateo: 0-4, 1 K — in a 2-for-24 (.083) slump
  • RF Austin Aune: 1-3, 2 K, 1 E (throwing)
  • LHP Josh Rogers: 6 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 3/5 GB/FB — picked a runner off first … I wonder who gets bumped up to Trenton first, Rogers or LHP Ian Clarkin?

Low-A Charleston (3-0 loss to Asheville)

  • RF Carlos Vidal: 3-4 — 6-for-15 (.400) in his last four games
  • 2B Diego Castillo: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 E (throwing)
  • SS Hoy Jun Park: 0-4, 1 K — went 17-for-29 (.586) during his eight-game hitting streak
  • CF Blake Rutherford: 1-4, 2 K
  • DH Angel Aguilar: 2-4, 1 K
  • 3B Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-4, 1 K
  • 1B Isiah Gilliam: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (fielding)
  • LF Leonardo Molina: 0-3, 1 K — in a 3-for-22 (.136) rut
  • RHP Nick Nelson: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 3/6 GB/FB — 45 of 62 pitches were strikes (73%) … easily his best outing as a pro … the scouting reports on last year’s fourth rounder seem to good to be true, so I’m hopeful we get some more reports on him this year now that he’s in a full season league
