Game 148: Sabathia Saturday

Good win last night. Great win, really. It’d been a while since the Yankees had a real laugher. That game was over by the third inning. Came after a team meeting too. Baseball never lets you enjoy anything too long though. There’s another game this afternoon and it’ll begin with score tied 0-0. Another blowout win would be a-okay with me.

Today CC Sabathia will become only the 16th pitcher in history to make at least 27 starts in 17 different seasons, which is pretty incredible. Sabathia, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Roger Clemens are the only guys to do it while pitching part of their careers this century. Pretty neat milestone. Also, Sabathia is 26 strikeouts away from 3,000 for his career. Including today, he has three starts remaining this season. The race is on. Here are the lineups:

New York Yankees
1. RF Andrew McCutchen
2. DH Giancarlo Stanton
3. CF Aaron Hicks
4. SS Didi Gregorius
5. C Gary Sanchez
6. 2B Gleyber Torres
7. 3B Neil Walker
8. 1B Luke Voit
9. LF Brett Gardner

LHP CC Sabathia

Toronto Blue Jays
1. SS Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
2. 1B Justin Smoak
3. DH Kendrys Morales
4. RF Randal Grichuk
5. CF Kevin Pillar
6. LF Teoscar Hernandez
7. C Danny Jansen
8. 3B Aledmys Diaz
9. 2B Richard Urena

RHP Sean Reid-Foley

It is nice and sunny in New York this afternoon. A bit cool with a nice breeze. Can’t beat it. This afternoon’s game will begin at 4:05pm ET and YES will have the broadcast. Enjoy the game.

Injury Update: Aroldis Chapman (knee) threw a 26-pitch bullpen session as scheduled earlier today. He’s going to throw a simulated game either Monday or Tuesday, and could be activated after that … Aaron Judge (wrist) took batting practice again today. He remains available to play defense and run the bases only.
