Triple-A Scranton (6-1 win over Lehigh Valley) they lead the best-of-five first round postseason series two games to one
- CF Mason Williams: 2-4, 1 R — 5-for-13 (.385) in the series, and according to people at the games, he’s made a number of great defensive plays as well
- 2B Donovan Solano: 3-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 E (fielding) — 7-for-13 (.538) with two walks in the series
- LF Billy McKinney: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 K — second homer of the series, and he hit it against former big leaguer Henderson Alvarez
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 K — flashed his arm on a nice play going to his right (here’s video)
- C Kyle Higashioka: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB
- RF Jake Cave: 0-3, 1 K
- RHP Brady Lail: 6 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 0/1 GB/FB — 64 of 96 pitches were strikes (67%) … comes up big in his first postseason start after allowing 15 runs in his final 21.1 regular season innings
Double-A Trenton (9-1 win over Binghamton) they won the best-of-five first round postseason series three games to one … they’ll face Altoona (Pirates) in the best-of-five Eastern League Championship Series … that series begins Tuesday
- RF Jeff Hendrix: 3-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 1 SB — he went 6-for-15 (.400) with three walks in the four-game series
- SS Thairo Estrada: 3-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB — went 8-for-16 (.500) in the series and hit for the cycle in Game Two
- DH Clint Frazier: 0-5, 3 K — 2-for-17 (.118) with ten strikeouts in four rehab games, so I wouldn’t count on seeing him in New York on Monday … he’ll probably stick with Trenton for the remainder of the postseason
- 1B Garrett Cooper: 0-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — can’t remember the last time a player spent this much time on a rehab assignment for a relatively minor hamstring injury
- 2B Nick Solak: 1-3, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 SB
- CF Rashad Crawford: 0-2, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K
- RHP Will Carter: 6.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 2 WP, 13/0 GB/FB — 54 of 90 pitches were strikes (60%) … guess the sinker was working tonight
- LHP Stephen Tarpley: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 1/1 GB/FB — eleven of 20 pitches were strikes
High-A Tampa‘s season is over. They lost to Dunedin (Blue Jays) in their first round postseason series.
Low-A Charleston (5-0 loss to Greenville) they lost the best-of-three first round postseason series two games to one, so their season is over … womp womp
- SS Diego Castillo: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 K
- 1B Brandon Wagner: 1-4
- RF Isiah Gilliam: 0-2, 2 BB — went 1-for-9 (.111) with three walks in the series
- 2B Oswaldo Cabrera: 0-4, 1 K — 0-for-11 in the series
- DH Dermis Garcia: 1-3, 1 BB, 1 K — 2-for-10 with six strikeouts in the series
- RHP Nick Green: 5.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 9/1 GB/FB — 51 of 86 pitches were strikes (59%) … finishes the year with a 66.3% ground ball rate in 131.1 innings … the Yankees drafted him out of high school in the 35th round in 2013, but didn’t sign him … one year later the Rangers got him in the seventh round, and two years after that, the Yankees got him in the Carlos Beltran trade … it’s probably not a coincidence they got him in a trade after drafting him … there’s people in the organization who’ve liked him for a while
Short Season Staten Island (5-2 loss to Hudson Valley in 13 innings, walk-off style) they trail the best-of-three first round postseason series one game to none
- CF Andy Diaz: 0-4, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 E (fielding) — no contact in six plate appearances
- SS Wilkerman Garcia: 1-6, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 K

- RHP Trevor Stephan: 3.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 4/0 GB/FB — 27 of 39 pitches were strikes (69%) … dropping Game One when Guzman and Stephan, the two best arms on the staff, allow zero earned runs in 10.2 innings is rough
