Fan Confidence Poll: April 17th, 2017

April 17, 2017 by Mike Leave a Comment

Yankees beat the Cardinals 9-3 for second straight sweep
Yankeemetrics: We're Going Streaking (April 14-16)

Record Last Week: 6-0 (35 RS, 15 RA)
Season Record: 8-4 (60 RS, 40 RA, 8-4 pythag. record)
Opponents This Week: vs. White Sox (three games, Mon. to Weds.), Thurs. OFF, @ Pirates (three games, Fri. to Sun.)

Top stories from last week:

  • The week started with the home opener, and Michael Pineda flirted with perfection in Monday’s 8-1 win over the Rays. The Yankees had an off-day Tuesday, then Jordan Montgomery made his MLB debut in Wednesday’s 8-4 win. Aaron Hicks hit two home runs in Thursday’s 3-2 win to complete the sweep.
  • The Cardinals came to the Bronx for a three-game weekend series next. Masahiro Tanaka looked more like himself in Friday’s 4-3 win, CC Sabathia pitched well in Saturday’s 3-2 win, then the Yankees finished the sweep with Sunday’s 9-3 win.
  • Injury Updates: James Kaprielian (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery. Sigh. Gary Sanchez (biceps) is still about two weeks from throwing. Didi Gregorius (shoulder) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this week. Greg Bird (ankle, flu) has since returned to the lineup. Matt Holliday (back) is day-to-day with stiffness. Dietrich Enns (shoulder) will be shut down 3-4 weeks with a strain.
  • Hal Steinbrenner is open to buying at the trade deadline if the Yankees are in the postseason race. It’s sounding more and more like Shohei Otani will come over to MLB this offseason.
