Double-A Trenton manager Bobby Mitchell was named the Eastern League Manager of the Year, so congrats to him. Al Pedrique and Jay Bell were previously named Manager of the Year in the Triple-A International League and High-A Florida State League, respectively, so the Yankees won the award at the three highest levels in the system. Pretty cool.
Triple-A Scranton Game One (3-2 loss to Lehigh Valley in seven innings, walk-off style)
- LF Tyler Wade: 2-4, 1 R, 2 K — threw a runner out at the plate … he was scheduled to play left field last night before the rainout … probably not a coincidence after the Aaron Hicks injury
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 0-2, 1 BB — he slid into MLB.com’s top 100 prospects list when Rafael Devers graduated to the big leagues tonight
- DH Billy McKinney: 1-3, 1 2B
- RF Jake Cave: 0-3, 1 K
- CF Mason Williams: 1-3
- RHP Ronald Herrera: 4.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 1 HB, 4/5 GB/FB — 41 of 68 pitches were strikes (60%) … I guess he’s going to spend the postseason here rather than Trenton
- RHP Jonathan Holder: 1.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 3/1 GB/FB — 22 of 38 pitches were strikes (58%) … eight walks in 16 minor league innings this year after seven walks in 65.1 minor league innings last year
Triple-A Scranton Game Two (2-0 loss to Lehigh Valley in seven innings) makeup of yesterday’s rainout
- RF Mason Williams: 0-3
- 3B Miguel Andujar: 1-3
- 1B Tyler Austin: 0-3, 1 K
- LF Billy McKinney: 0-2
- CF Jake Cave: 1-2
- LHP Nestor Cortes: 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 5/5 GB/FB — 64 of 92 pitches were strikes (70%) … the organizational super utility pitcher finishes the regular season with a 2.06 ERA and a 105/32 K/BB in 104.2 innings … 495 pitches threw 100+ inning in the minors this year and only seven had a lower ERA than Cortes … remember, he led the minors with a 1.53 ERA last season

- CF Rashad Crawford: 0-3
- LHP Justus Sheffield: 3 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1/4 GB/FB — 36 of 54 pitches were strikes (67%) … he’s still working his way back from the oblique injury and isn’t stretched all the way out yet, hence the short start … he finishes the regular season with a 3.18 ERA and a 82/33 K/BB in 93.1 innings with Trenton
- LHP Stephen Tarpley: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 2 HB, 5/1 GB/FB — 23 of 40 pitches were strikes (58%) … finishes the regular season with a 0.88 ERA and a 42/18 K/BB in 41 innings …. he’s Rule 5 Draft eligible after the season, though I’m not sure the Yankees have 40-man roster space for him … as a lefty with good velocity, he’ll likely get popped in the Rule 5 Draft … doesn’t mean he’ll stick all year though
- RHP Colten Brewer: 1 IP, zeroes, 2 K, 1/1 GB/FB — ten of 16 pitches were strikes (63%) … minor league Rule 5 Draft pick ends his first season as a full-time reliever with a 2.82 ERA and a 69/16 K/BB in 60.2 innings
Double-A Trenton Game Two (2-0 loss to Reading in eight innings) makeup of yesterday’s rainout
- 2B Nick Solak: 2-4
- 3B Mike Ford: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K — third base! he played four games there with Staten Island back in 2013, and that’s it … this is what happens when you’ve already clinched the best record in the league and want to rest dudes during a doubleheader on the second-to-last day of the season
- 1B Ryan McBroom: 0-2, 1 BB, 1 K
- SS Abi Avelino: 0-3, 1 E (fielding)

- LHP James Reeves: 0.2 IP, zeroes, 1 K, 2/0 GB/FB, 1 E (fielding) — six of eleven pitches are strikes
High-A Tampa (5-0 win over Lakeland) their regular season is over … they went 85-50 and had the best record in the Florida State League by ten games … that’s also the most wins in franchise history … their best-of-three first round postseason series begins Tuesday … I’m pretty sure they’re playing Dunedin (Blue Jays)

Rookie Pulaski (6-4 win over Bluefield) the best-of-three first round series is now tied at a game apiece, so tomorrow is winner-take-all
- CF Frederick Cuevas: 2-5, 1 2B — 5-for-10 in the two games so far
- SS Eduardo Torrealba: 2-5, 1 R
- 1B Andres Chaparro: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI — hit seven homers in 46 regular season games
- DH Eric Wagaman: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI
- 2B Jesus Bastidas: 2-4, 1 RBI
- RHP Luis Medina: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 HB, 6/1 GB/FB — didn’t have a great regular season (5.35 ERA and 39/24 K/BB in 38.2 IP), but he shoved in an elimination game
- RHP Nolan Martinez: 3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 1/2 GB/FB — picked a runner off first … so I guess he’s going to piggyback in the postseason

- 1B Nelson Alvarado: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K — 21-year-old hit .181/.339/.208 with no home runs in 48 regular season games, so of course he goes deep in their first postseason game
- RHP Brett Morales: 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 6/2 GB/FB — the undrafted free agent has allowed one earned run in 14.2 pro innings this year … he’s working his back from Tommy John surgery
