Tuesday Night Open Thread

On this date 15 years ago, the Yankees sign Japanese slugger Hideki Matsui. We didn’t have nearly as much information about Japanese players then as we do now, so Godzilla was a bit of an unknown at the time. All I remember hearing was that he hit 50 homers in Japan and was the top power hitter in the league. Matsui never hit for that kind of power with the Yankees — he hit 31 homers in 2004, the only time he topped 30 in MLB — but man, what a hitter that guy was. One of my all-time favorites.

Anyway, here is tonight’s open thread. The (hockey) Rangers and Islanders are playing, plus there’s some college basketball on as well. Talk about those games, Matsui’s career, or anything else here.
