Only two more games and two more days remaining in this 18 games in 18 stretch. Things have gone extremely well so far — the Yankees are 14-2 and have outscored their opponents 95-42 in the first 16 games of this stretch — and hopefully it continues today, but you can tell the guys are looking forward to Monday’s off-day. They could use a breather. Still two games to go though.
Sonny Gray is on the mound this afternoon — with his personal catcher, of course — looking to build on a good but not great start against the Astros last week. Gray has been terrible overall this season (6.67 ERA and 4.65 FIP) and he’s better than what he’s shown. Hopefully last week’s start was a sign he’s coming out of it. The Yankees have pitched very well of late recently. Getting Sonny going would be huge. Here are today’s lineups:
New York Yankees
1. LF Brett Gardner
2. DH Aaron Judge
3. CF Aaron Hicks
4. RF Giancarlo Stanton
5. 1B Neil Walker
6. 3B Miguel Andujar
7. 2B Gleyber Torres
8. C Austin Romine
9. SS Ronald Torreyes
RHP Sonny Gray
Cleveland Indians
1. SS Francisco Lindor
2. 2B Jason Kipnis
3. 3B Jose Ramirez
4. LF Michael Brantley
5. DH Edwin Encarnacion
6. 1B Yonder Alonso
7. RF Tyler Naquin
8. C Roberto Perez
9. CF Bradley Zimmer
RHP Trevor Bauer
It is a bit cloudy in New York today, otherwise it’s a very nice afternoon for a ballgame. Hooray for nice weather. This afternoon’s game will begin at 1:05pm ET and you can watch on YES locally and MLB Network out of market. A nice, easy win would be appreciated. Enjoy the game.
