Game 82: Crunch Time
Losing Streak Over: Yanks rally late to demolish Twins

RHP Graham Stoneburner has been placed on the DL for an unknown reason, reports Donnie Collins. It might just be a phantom DL thing to clear a roster spot. RHP Kelvin Perez was activated.

Triple-A Scranton (1-0 loss to Pawtucket)

  • C J.R. Murphy: 0-3, 1 BB — nine walks and nine strikeouts at Triple-A … 41/33 K/BB on the year
  • RF Fernando Martinez: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
  • CF Adonis Garcia: 1-2, 2 BB
  • LHP David Huff: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 7/2 GB/FB — 65 of 98 pitches were strikes (66%)
  • RHP Chase Whitley: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 2/1 GB/FB — 15 of 26 pitches were strikes (58%)

Double-A Trenton was rained out. They’ll make the game up as part of a doubleheader in late-August.

High-A Tampa‘s doubleheader was rained out. Both games will be made up next week. Meanwhile, both Rookie GCL Yanks affiliates were rained out. They’ll play doubleheaders tomorrow, at least in theory. It’s supposed to rain in Tampa all week.

Low-A Charleston (7-3 loss to Rome)

  • CF Jake Cave: 0-4, 1 K
  • SS Cito Culver: 2-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB — seventh homer of the year is one more than he hit from 2010-2012 combined
  • 1B Greg Bird: 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B — two hits in his last 18 at-bats (.111) with eight strikeouts
  • 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 1-4, 1 RBI, 2 K
  • 2B Angelo Gumbs: 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 K
  • LHP Evan Rutckyj: 5 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 5 K, 1 WP, 5/2 GB/FB — 48 of 89 pitches were strikes (54%)
  • LHP Tyler Webb: 1 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K — 18 of 31 pitches were strikes … forgot to mention this the other day, but this year’s tenth rounder was bumped up after a short stint with Short Season Staten Island

Short Season Staten Island Game One (8-7 win over Brooklyn in 12 innings) makeup of the June 18th rainout

  • LF Michael O’Neill: 2-6, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — got picked off first
  • CF Brandon Thomas: 0-2, 1 R, 4 BB, 1 K — 12 walks and eight strikeouts in his last nine games
  • DH Yeicok Calderon: 3-6, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 K
  • RHP David Palladino: 2.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 5/0 GB/FB — ouch
  • RHP Stefan Lopez: 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1/2 GB/FB — 10/3 GB/FB in 9.2 innings
  • RHP Nick Rumbelow: 1.1 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 1/2 GB/FB

Short Season Staten Island Game Two was postponed because the first game went to long. No idea when they’ll make this one up.
