Via K. Levine-Flandrup, the Yankees have officially signed 15th round pick Dayton Dawe for $100k. A high school right-hander out of Ontario, Dawe sits right around 90 with two fastballs (two and four-seamer) and will also throw a mid-70s curveball and changeup. He’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 180 lbs. and his strengths are his simple delivery and fastball command.
In other news, the Yankees will also sign 29th rounder Jose Diaz according to K. Levine-Flandrup. No word on the bonus, but the high-school left-hander out of Puerto Rico will be assigned to the Dominican Summer League. Diaz is another guy listed at 6-foor-2 and 180 lbs., but he’ll only sit in the mid-to-upper-80s with his fastball and back it up with a mid-70s slider. He’s a projection pick, a lottery ticket.
